Minix Neo X8 and Neo X8S: official new TV smart-box Android

The Japanese company has introduced two new mini-pc Android with new quad-core processors and support for the 4k!


Exactly one year ago, the Japanese company Minix presented to the general public and marketed a whole new range of Smart TV Box with Android on board by the technical specifications interesting and varied, ranging from top of the range Minix Neo X7 quad-core to the cheapest Minix X3 Neo dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

After this series of products designed specifically for the multimedia and gaming, the manufacturer has officially unveiled two new models of Android devices that can connect to your TV and turn it into a Smart TV or better, in a real mini-pc from which you can surf the internet, listen to music or play video, play video games and use all the applications on Google Play Store.


The Minix Neo and Neo X8 X8S are presented as two new top of the range in the field of mini -pc with Android hardware cards are very similar , both high levels and with a new principal : the abandonment in favor of Rockchip processors Amlogic S802 and S802-H , respectively, in Neo X8 and Neo X8S .

The two devices are fitted with a quad-core Cortex A9r4 confirmed now supported by 2GB of RAM , accompanied by 8GB of internal memory expandable via the SD card slot in the Minix Neo X8 , and 16GB expandable always in Neo X8S . The GPU is the octa-core Mali 450 on both models , although the Neo X8S supports Dolby Digital and DTS.

The Fund is full of connectivity Dual-Band WiFi , HDMI 1.4 output for 4K @ 30 fps , a standard 3.5mm audio jack , Ethernet port , the slot for the SD card that goes to expand the internal memory , three USB 2.0 ports and the IR receiver to use the remote base included. The real novelty of these two models , however, lies in the support 4K resolutions and the ability to decode 4K2K and encode 1080p with the performance thus never reached by the previous models of the same Minix.

In conjunction with the two new models was also presented the Minix Neo M1 , from basic features a remote control with a six-axis gyroscope for gaming that can guarantee a complete support to the multimedia features of the Minix Neo and Neo X8 X8S . The company has not released the official dates or prices for sale , but we assume that the two new mini- PC can be marketed in the month of May with the remote Neo M1 (39 dollars ) , as was done last year for the Minx Neo X7 , X5 and X3.
