New look at the prototype of Ara and also to the app to make it

When last September Dave Hakkens of Phonebloks proposed the idea of a smartphone modular, few would have believed that he had found his large following, and instead a couple of months after Motorola announced Project Ara, one of the projects that Google wanted keep to themselves, even after the company sold to China's Lenovo.

It is the same now Hakkens to scoring a short video inside the Googleplex, which allows us a new sneak peek to this ambitious and "rainbow" project.

The first prototypes of Ara exploit a system of electro magnets, which in practice can keep this state permanently, but without a constant passage of current. This ensures that the various components are kept in place without some kind of physical block.

But the most interesting part of the video is definitely the one that shows the app to configure Ara, running on a smartphone, and currently being developed by Google and Sosolimited. Think of a kind of Moto Maker, thanks to which join together the various components of Ara and thus achieve your smartphone really measure. In a not too distant future, hopefully, it will be possible to assemble it and order it in just a few clicks, perhaps even from our current smartphone, ready to be replaced by Ara. We're running a little too much? We sincerely hope not.
