An Apple engineer talks about how the iPhone was born

Greg Christie, senior engineer who worked on the iPhone, offering a rare interview he explained how everything was born and how Apple planned to propose the original iPhone as a revolutionary.

Speaking to the WSJ, Greg Christie explained how the secret project "Purple" has brought the iPhone to life. At one point, the former Apple chief said: "In the end, the team has designed an incredibly tiny touchscreen phone with the swipe-to-unlock, no physical keyboard and music including all the features of the iPod. They carried out the first test software on a touchscreen plastic, connected to an old Mac desktop (which you see above), in an effort to emulate a mobile processor with low fuel consumption. "

Christie had to make two presentations per month directly to Steve Jobs, and once it was decided that the device would become a reality, the real work began. A "marathon of two and half years" during which Jobs was obsessed with every detail. In the six months preceding the announcement of the iPhone and its marketing changes did not stop, with a view to display the email content and sender information removed just before the launch. "Steve thought it was stupid to do a screen like that on such a small screen."
